Warco metal working lathe – BH600 / BH900

This is an archived post. Since this originally appeared we’ve now discontinued this machine. Keep up to date with the latest Warco lathe range at warco.co.uk.

Since posting this it’s been brought to our attention that somebody is trying to sell a model incorrectly claimed to be equivalent to ours – please note that these are unauthorised and unrelated to Warco. We’ve been selling machines since 1975 and have only ever sold direct to customers, not via random internet traders.

We know that buying a lathe is a big investment, so it’s important to know you will get proper support even after years have passed – that’s why we invest heavily in spares and after salesbut unfortunately we are unable to help with copies or other non-Warco machines.

We thought we’d share a bit more of an insight into one of our larger lathes, the Warco BH600.

This machine is ideal for the school, professional engineer or model engineer alike.  Featuring hardened and ground bedways, generous capacity, this is a high quality and competitively priced belt drive lathe.

As standard, the machine includes a cabinet stand, 3 Jaw chuck with inside and outside jaws, a 4 Jaw chuck, faceplate, fixed and travelling steadies, two dead centres and a four way toolpost.

This lathe also features a power cross and longitudinal feed through dedicated shaft, removeable gap – dowelled for relocation, back gear for maximum torque in low speed range.

Warco Mini Lathe (hobby lathe) – ideal for model engineering

Update: Since this post was first published back in 2010, the Warco Mini Lathe has undergone even more upgrades and we’ve also introduced a premium version, the Super Mini Lathe. Keep up to date with the latest machines and all other Warco engineering products on warco.co.uk

Here at Warco we’re particularly proud of our Mini Lathe, and thought we’d share what sets it apart from alternatives.

Ideal as a starter lathe or for the experienced metal worker alike, our extremely competitively priced ‘Hobby Lathe’  is particularly popular and widely recognised for its quality.  It includes the following features:

  • Hardened bedways:  The high quality bedways on this machine are induction hardened, so they never wear out, saving you time and expense further down the line correcting wear.
  • Cam locking tail stock:  This means there’s no need for a spanner to tighten the tail stock, avoiding time wasting.
  • Digital rev counter: Unusually for a lathe at this scale and price point, a digital rev counter is included as standard.  Seen by many metal workers and model engineers as an essential, there’s no need to add this to the expense of buying this additionally.  The Warco Mini Lathe comes with one pre-fitted and already integral with the control panel.
  • 3 Jaw Chuck: Included with the machine, these are supplied with one set of inside and one set of outside jaws.
  • USA made circuit boards: High quality American made printed circuit boards for long term reliability.
  • Tailstock bed contact size: Yet another feature that marks the Warco Mini Lathe apart is that on the tailstock (where the cam locking is fitted), there is a 100mm bed contact, compared to 50mm on most other Mini Lathes.
  • Individual accuracy test reports: For total peace of mind, each and every Mini Lathe supplied by Warco includes an individual report on its accuracy, and each machine is guaranteed for 12 months.
  • Full after sales care and spares:  Unlike many other suppliers, we include a full range of spares and accessories for each machine we sell, so if there’s any part or spare you need, we can supply it long after your initial purchase.

The Warco Mini Lathe comes in either metric or imperial.
